Change a Password

There are a number of different ways to update your password, including through your corporate computer or on the Grey County Website.

Password Requirements:

All employees are required to have a password of at least 15 characters in length (these can be letters, numbers or symbols). It is considered good practice to not use common phrases or the same password on more than one account.

How To Change My Password:

I am working from a Grey County Building and am logged into a Corporate PC

Press Control + Alt + Delete on your keyboard at the same time.
A screen with a few options will appear. Select "Change A Password"
Type your current and new password into the fields. Press Enter and you will receive a message that it has been updated
- If it does not, ensure it meets the requirements listed above when you type in a new one.
Your account login will be updated at this point. Make sure to update your phone with the new password if you have a corporate one!

I am working from home and/or in a non-Grey County Building location and am logged into my corporate PC

Ensure you are connected to VPN before attempting to make a password change while not in the office.
Follow the same instructions as if you were in the County Building at this point.
- If you receive an error that mentions a "Domain Controller", this commonly means that you are not actively connected to the VPN. Please ensure you are and if you continue to experience problems, contact the Helpdesk

I need to change my password on a non-corporate device or on my cellphone

This method will often lead to issues if you actively use a corporate laptop and are working from home. As such, please attempt the above two options before this one
Navigate to https://grey.ca/password-reset
Follow the instructions on the website to update your password
After this is complete, if you are working from home and have a corporate laptop, ensure you can connect to the VPN at that point with your new password.
When you have confirmed this, your password will have been updated on all your County devices at that point.
