VPN FortiClient - Connecting to the Network over VPN using FortiClient
The FortiClient software should already be available on your computer. If it is not, please open a ticket with the help desk for assistance on getting it installed.
Please note: VPN connection only works when not working at any Grey County Office.
If in the office, please wait until working remotely to connect as it will fail. This is as intended.
You can check that it’s been installed by clicking the “^” in the bottom right-hand corner of your computer and finding the Blue Shield with a check mark, shown here:
To Connect to the VPN:
Right click on the icon (above) for the FortiClient App and in the menu that comes up, choose Connect to “Grey County Admin”, it will bring up a FortiClient Remote Access Display on your screen.
For the username can use either your computer username login (ie davise) or your email address (evan.davis@grey.ca) for your username.
Password will be what you use to login to your computer.
Your username will be persistent, but you will need to enter your password each time you connect to the VPN.
If you have 2-Factor Authentication turned on for your account:
Once you enter your username and password and click Connect, the 1st authentication will go through to verify your username and password. If this first part fails, verify that you entered your username and password correctly.
When the connection status hits 45%, your 2nd authentication method will either call your phone or request verification on the Authenticator App. You will have 60 seconds to verify. Once verified, the connection attempt with complete. If you do not respond in time, the VPN connection will fail.
Once connected, message box will pop up to say that you’re connected to Grey County Admin.
To see details of the connection and status of the client, double click on the shield icon.
